Little Gardeners on the Go!
Let's get growing ----- Strawberries

A FEW GOOD RULES

'SLIP, SLOP AND SLAP'.  -Being out in the sun is great fun. However, if you don't want your face to end up looking like one of those shriveled up old lemons that have been left in the fruit bowl too long, wear a hat and sunscreen!

GLOVE TO GARDEN -I know it feels good using your bare hands in the garden. The trouble is, even if you wash your hands afterwards, you can't get the dirt out properly. It gets under your fingernails and into the wrinkles on your skin, it's awful. Besides, you don't want to be sticking your hands into dark places or under rocks without gloves in case a little spider is having a bit of a snooze. If you scare him he might bite.
PERMISSION -You better ask your mum or dad or your grandparents what sunny part of the garden is OK for you to use. You can also use hanging baskets or polystyrene fruit boxes with drainage holes in the bottom.

NOW FOR THE FUN STUFF

STRAWBERRIES - are the best! Juicy and sweet and delicious with ice cream or yoghurt.

MAKING THE BED - I absolutely hate getting into a bed that has big lumps and bumps, and not made properly. I just can't stretch out. Well, plants are the same. They need to be able to stretch out their roots. Here is what you have to do!

THE STINKY BIT -Make the soil rich and full of goodness. There is only one way to do this. Get a spade and mix in the special ingredient that makes plants grow well.  Organic matter
